A few weeks ago we published a lengthy article describing the countless personalities that exist within the anime industry, and now it’s time for the quiz. What personality applies to Makima from Chainsaw Man? Tsundere? Yandere? Sadodere? The answer is obviously kuudere! Chainsaw Man It’s far from a proper romance anime, but even its most evil and twisted anti-heroes have a human heart buried deep within.

Friendship and one-sided romances help humanize Chainsaw Man’s quirky characterssuch as the “sibling dynamic” between Denji and Power and, above all, Denji’s search for a real girlfriend. Denji may not be getting his happily ever after any time soon, but his one-sided crush on Makima makes him likeable and helps Chainsaw Man fans see Makima in a new light. She can even be described as a kuudere, or a cold and distant lover, but she is nothing like those that came before her.
On the surface at least, Makima fits this definition in Chainsaw Man. She’s polite, well-mannered, patient and mature, acting like the consummate professional she is, and doesn’t display any extremes of personality common to most other types. As a true kuudere, Makima only showed her true self later, when she was ready. Self-assured Kuuderes are patient people, after all, and Makima made her move later, in the Chainsaw Man manga.
However, today we are not here to drop spoilers in bulk, but to recommend some characters with a similar personality to Makima., because a recent article about it became popular these days. In the list we find the following:
Esdeath (Akame ga Kill!)
- Esdeath’s background explains her sadistic nature in the anime, and why she is so thirsty for blood, violence, war, and conquest of other people. Or her desire to fight against strong rivals. This is not what connects her with Makima as a character, but her whole character, her way of treating other men in particular, and her personality to some extent.

Rin Kashii (Deatte 5-byyou de Battle)
- At first glance, she comes across as an older sister, often appearing relaxed and unmoved by many things. What she isn’t so obvious is how cunning, dangerous and twisted she is. She is also much stronger than she appears and has a mystical air about her (just like Makima).

Eleanor Charlet (Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records)
- Eleanor is one of the maids in this franchise. She seems likeable, kind and modest in most of her. It’s not until the anime progresses that she gradually discovers the darker side of herself, and she plays a much bigger role than she seems.

Balalalika (Black Lagoon)
- Although at first glance she seems more threatening than Makima, both are wild in their own series and are generally not female characters to be messed with. Even Revy, one of the characters called “crazy”, is careful with Balalaika, especially because of her power and influence.

Norn (Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi)
- Norn is a tactician and is also Flare’s smarter little sister and even more dangerous despite her cuter looks. Aside from her intelligence, there are clear commonalities between her and Makima, but not as close as the other characters on this list.

Elsa Granhiert (Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu)
- Like Makima, Elsa is an unassuming anime character. You can’t figure out what she’s thinking, what she’s up to, or what her next move will be. Her eyes are cold and expressionless, like Makima’s. And she is just as dangerous in the context of each series.

Flare (Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi)
- Flare is the most Makima-like of the healer hero’s sisters. She is modest, outwardly nice, kind, gentle and beautiful. All traits that she takes full advantage of. In the dark, she is much more evil and savage than Makima could ever be in comparison. But both share traits and similarities.

Rachel (Tower of God)
- And then there’s Rachel from Tower Of God. The blonde girl who is “friends” with the main protagonist, and has a low-key personality, as well as few facial expressions. Rachel has a pleasant expression, appears to mean well, and can work well with others. Fans soon discover that much of this is nothing more than a hoax.
